Reflection & Projection

Creating a vision board can feel awkward or woo-woo for some people which is completely understandable. The thought of doing an arts and crafts project of cutting out pictures of materialistic items and hoping the universe magically provides them sans any effort is absurd. Not gonna work. However, it’s great to know what you want in your life and the first stop in creating that life is by being grateful for everything in your life. Yep, this means the yucky parts too. Creating a reflective vision board of your achievements and experiences will be an effective gateway to creating one for future goals.

One shift opens the universal door for the next thing to naturally fall into place. You may have heard the phrase “act as if” in order to manifest what you desire. This is that! The next step is creating a plan starting from right where you are and commit to one action that you can do now that will lead to the ultimate goal. For example, if you want a particular car that is not in your current budget, go test drive that car. (Nothing too exotic since you’d need to put up cash as collateral for a test drive.) Then, when it comes to purchasing your next car, choose something in your budget that has a similar body style in the color of your dream car. This simple mini act will put you in alignment with your big picture. Focus on one goal at a time and watch how the others naturally follow. Be open and practice patience each day and you’ll be amazed by this time next year when you’re reflecting upon this very moment. Who knows, you may become a manifesting pro and find yourself cutting, pasting or Pinterest-ing all your desires. Haaa

Your Life

Where have you been?

Today is the oldest you’ve ever been, and the youngest you’ll ever be again.”
— Eleanor Roosevelt

Ever randomly think of where you’ve been in your life? How about people you’ve known over the years, all of the, ”most amazing dinners ever,” or the countless all-nighters? And what about the pictures living behind plastic sheets in a book, in the digital abyss or those disposable cameras having yet be developed sitting in a box? So many memories, moments, celebrations, winnings, losses, beginnings and so many endings. Take some time to look through photos from any phase of your life or read old cards and letters. Hopefully, you gain a new perspective of how much you mean to people and how your life has touched others over the years. Keep being you and navigating your way through life, it’s gotten you this far.

Reflect on a risk you’ve taken with an undesired outcome that turned out to be in your best interest after the disappointment settled. There may be a few of these instances, small and large throughout your life. My grandmother always says, “don’t look back if it ain’t gonna put a smile on your face.” (She’s tough and boy does she love her “ain’ts.”)

It may be difficult to rummage through the past so here is an idea that could help you stay focused on what you’re recalling. Set an intention that you’re scanning the past for specific events where your disappointment benefited you in many ways, potentially even saving your life. We are avoiding the “F” word, f@%!^%e since this is all about receiving something greater that you had hoped for. Feel free to write or voice record your experience. It is surprising how many victories are laying dormant in the past with zero recognition. Let’s celebrate these colossal life wins.

The middle of any process is a good time to pause and reflect on how far you’ve come and how close you are to the finish line. Take time to feel accomplished rather than overwhelmed with what remains to be completed. One day you’ll look back at the middle of something and reflect on that being the best time you’ve had or how brilliant you were for taking on that challenge and seeing it through.
