Autumn Meditation

Crisp fall air cleanses the lungs and forces us to acknowledge the shift in seasons. As we pull out the cozy sweaters and warm up apple cider, it’s only natural to reflect upon the past nine months of the year. This transition into the fourth quarter of the year provides us with an opportunity to make any adjustments needed to goals or plans. The key is to not get discouraged if the goals have taken a detour or broke down months ago. Evaluate where you are and decide what makes sense for you now and make a short term plan to close out the year with a sense of accomplishment.

Here are a few Autumn mediations to get the most out of a fresh new season!

The Color of Health

Green provides the most healing effects of any other color. Light blue is up there with green as it evokes tranquility and calmness.

Green is reflected in nature and is associated with the Heart Chakra. If there is an imbalance in the body or a conflict of the heart, it is helpful to get outside and spend time in nature. Imagine there are roots growing from your feet down into the earth while taking deep breaths. With each exhale, your roots grow deeper into the earth creating stability and strength. This is where self-trust and healing can begin. Take as many as 30 slow deep breaths. Lightheadedness may occur so move slowly and take your time.

Here is a healing Heart Chakra Meditation to mend a wounded or battered heart.

Peace At The Lake

Deeper than ponds, surrounded by land, trees and mountains, some are natural and others manmade. Lakes are sources for industry, agriculture, domestic water and recreation. On the recreation side, lakes provide peace and tranquility, especially for those who live far from an ocean. Being near a body of water can mend many stresses and even a broken heart. Nature keeps happening even when we wish the world could stay still until we heal. It forces us to grow with it each time water meets a shoreline and wind blows through trees. Nothing stays the same.

Today, try to visit a body of water to help release tension in the mind and body. Think of water washing over the whole body taking away any stress or sadness. Take as many deep breaths as it takes until there is a sense of calm and contentment.

Tranquility

Creating tranquility can be challenging while keeping a busy life going with never-ending tasks. It may seem like tranquility is a waste of time that could be spent sleeping or scrolling through other peoples’ lives, maybe even watching them create tranquility.

What feels tranquil to you? Is it complete silence, meditative music or a busy city at a distance? Well, tonight it’s raining hard in Philadelphia with a mixture of force and sound that is hitting wood, metal and concrete in a relaxing way. The rain was the perfect backdrop for a candlelit shower so I grabbed my favorite Limoncello scented candle and had a rainforest like experience in the concrete jungle. I feel so relaxed now and I know I will be sleeping well tonight. Treat yourself to something tranquil that is just for you.
